GET YOUR FESTIVAL FIX
We give you the low down on where we'll be heading this summer...
With Coachella officially kicking off the season recently, we couldn't be more excited for this summer's jam-packed schedule of festivals! It used to be all about muddy fields and warm cider but in recent years, the festival industry as a whole has really stepped it up a notch. Top quality music just isn't enough these days - think bespoke cocktails, creative art installations and super lush chill out areas that all take the festival experience to a whole other level.
Here's our pick of our favourites for the summer ahead. Where will you be going?
LOST VILLAGE
If you're looking for a musical experience like no other, then Lost Village is most definitely for you. One of the first ones to kick off the UK calendar, the Lincolnshire-based festival takes place over the Spring Bank Holiday at the end of May and offers an eclectic mix of DJs and live acts, as well as a whole range of other experiences including street food from around the world, a tribal banquet, a theatre and, for when it all gets too much, a lake of tranquility complete with hot tubs, yoga sessions and massages. Lush!
FIELD DAY
If you're in London, then Victoria Park's Field Day is one of the best the capital has to offer. Taking place over the weekend of 11th & 12th June, this city-based festival is perfect if you don't fancy camping overnight. With a relaxed and friendly attitude, it's one of our favourite festivals to head to each summer and because it's small, you'll always find your way around. Big names include PJ Harvey, James Blake, Four Tet, Mystery Jets, Youth Lagoon and lots more. Get ready to party afterwards too as lots is put on nearby.
GLASTONBURY
We couldn't not mention Glastonbury in our top picks but this festival needs no introduction. Towards the end of June, you'll either be heading there or it'll feel like everyone you know is heading there. If you were one of those lucky enough to get a ticket then you're in for a treat. With a tag line of 'if in doubt, just wander', you'll never be stuck for somewhere to go. Practically a small town, there are so many worlds to discover, artists to listen to and experiences to explore that once you're lost in the wonder of Glastonbury, you'll never want to leave. With the big players like Adele, Coldplay and Foals on the bill with hundreds more artists on around the festival, we love going off to the fringes and exploring the music you thought you'd never discover!
LOVEBOX
Another for the city dwellers, Love Box is a burst of colour, energy and above all, FUN. Lovebox started back in 2002, hatched out of what was initially a club party before moving onto to Clapham Common. One of the original inner city festivals, it eventually moved to its home of Victoria Park 11 years ago and has grown ever since. With a genre-defying line-up of DJs, live bands, art, performance and dance, this is most definitely the place to be for a proper party...
GREEN MAN
So much more than a festival, Green Man is one to head to if you're looking for a festival with a difference. Set in the breathtakingly beautiful setting of the Brecon Beacons, this eco-friendly festival focuses on film, comedy, food as well as a huge line-up of talent including Warpaint, Wild Beasts, Cate Le Bon and tons more. We love the interactive art installations and tranquil waterside spots... it's the perfect balance of partying and chilling!
